White glaciers atop mountains rising abruptly from the coastal plain, jagged black lava rock tearing the otherwise uninterrupted snow. Icebergs formed from the glaciers washed onto black lava beaches, dropped like ice cubes into a foaming surf. The low angle of the sun paints brilliant sunrises and sunsets, beginning ever so gently, softly, and proceeding to such saturation as to challenge belief. Waterfalls hundreds of feet high crash into near frozen streams, their spray forming ice cicyles on each strand of moss and grass. And, these wonders literally pale in comparison to the world inside an ice cave. A world bathed in white and blue light, whose walls of ice are wrapped and fashioned like bolts of silk, carved like marble, and sprinkled with ground lava.
